01
The challenge
Many mature fields keep their most valuable history on paper: scanned well logs, structure maps drawn by hand and technical reports written decades ago, often in different languages. The information exists, but nobody can search it, plot it or use it in a model.
02
How GeoDeep handles it
- 01
The archive is loaded into Core, and every scan is stored unchanged with its checksum.
- 02
Text recognition reads reports in English, Russian and Azerbaijani, and each document is categorized with its metadata extracted.
- 03
Scanned log images are converted into digital curves, with depth and scale read from the original track.
- 04
Old structure maps are georeferenced, and their contours are vectorized into surfaces.
- 05
Tables are extracted as structured data, and every document is linked to the wells, fields and surveys it describes.
- 06
A geologist reviews the results next to the originals, corrects what needs correcting and publishes the approved data.
03
What changes
- Historical wells and maps join current projects instead of sitting in storage.
- Digitized curves are always marked as digitized and never mistaken for measured data.
- Every value can be traced back to the page it came from.
